In this Employee Spotlight, we’re pleased to introduce Rebecca Beauchamp, Senior Designer/Account Manager. Let's dive into what makes her passionate both in and out of the workplace.

What keeps you passionate outside of work?

Spending time outdoors with my beau and dog on the weekends looking for birds, whales, waterfalls or camping off-grid near a lake or river. Paddleboarding is a seasonal favorite!

What problems do you solve for clients in your role?

Every project presents new challenges, and I enjoy helping clients intelligently & successfully solve for those needs whether it is space planning for their office or common areas, specifying furniture and/or finishes, or developing specifications for custom furniture or storage solutions.

What’s your favorite aspect of your role at Apex?

I enjoy being a part of the entire process from initial programming with a client, through conceptualization and design, selection of finishes and materials and project completion. I also enjoy collaborating with other team members on projects.

How do you keep a healthy work/life balance?

I have an ever-growing list of projects and activities outside of work. I also try to take time to relax and unwind at the end of each day.

If you could choose anyone, who would you pick as your mentor?

Florence Knoll. I have a huge appreciation for what she accomplished in our industry. She truly elevated commercial furniture to an art form and at a time when it was primarily a male-dominated design culture.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

There are a few I keep top of mind:

• • Trust your gut, it has never failed you.
  • Don’t take yourself too seriously.
  • Do everything with the confidence of a 4-year-old in a bat-man cape.

What’s your favorite restaurant in Seattle, and what makes it stand out to you?

I love finding new, unexpected places, but consistently, I enjoy Anthony’s – great atmosphere, seafood and service.

If you could do anything and know you would not fail, what would it be?

Restore vintage trailers and open an Airbnb with them.

Tell us something that might surprise us about you.

When I was younger, I rode equestrian, played the violin, and worked my way through college teaching swimming and lifeguarding.

Which part of our company DNA speaks the most to you and why?

As a Designer, I’m a Natural Problem Solver. Every project is an opportunity to find the best possible solution that meets the customer’s needs, budget and vision. I always strive to make the solution/outcome better than expected!
