Our Employee Spotlight offers a glimpse into the lives of our exceptional team members, each of whom is dedicated to creating innovative and efficient workplace solutions for our clients.

In this Employee Spotlight, we’re pleased to introduce Steve Turner, Chief Operations Officer (COO). Let's dive into what makes him passionate both in and out of the workplace.

What keeps you passionate outside of work?

Outside of work, I’m passionate about spending time with my family, that’s what keeps me grounded and motivated. I also enjoy staying active by hitting the gym. My faith is also really important to me.

What problems do you solve for clients in your role?

As COO, I bring a unique blend of strategic focus and operational discipline to ensure our projects run smoothly from start to finish. With deep experience in the commercial office furniture industry, I understand the complexities our clients face and work with our incredible teams to transform those challenges into seamless, low-stress experiences. I’m committed to making sure we deliver on what we promise, on time, on budget, and with a client experience that sets us apart.

What’s your favorite aspect of your role at Apex?

My favorite aspect of my role is the opportunity to solve complex challenges alongside a talented, driven team. I love being in a role where I can blend strategic thinking with hands-on execution, and where the work we do has a tangible impact on our clients success and our team's growth. There’s real satisfaction in watching a well-coordinated plan come together and knowing that we delivered an experience that makes people’s lives easier.

How do you keep a healthy work/life balance?

I’ve learned that maintaining a healthy work/life balance starts with setting clear boundaries and being fully present both at work and at home. I prioritize my time around what matters most and for me that means spending quality time with my family.

If you could choose anyone as your mentor, who would it be and why?

It would be Warren Buffett. He has an incredible ability to simplify complex ideas and stay focused on what truly matters, even in times of uncertainty. I actually went to the same high school as Mr. Buffett!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

“Don’t confuse activity with progress.” It’s a reminder to stay focused on what actually moves the needle, rather than just staying busy.

What’s your favorite restaurant in Seattle, and what makes it stand out to you?

My favorite restaurant in Seattle is The Metropolitan Grill. Being born and raised in Nebraska, I appreciate a good steak and theirs is always top-tier!

If you could do anything and know you would not fail, what would it be?

I’d drive a funny car. The speed, the power, the adrenaline, it’s always been something that fascinates me. How cool would it be to say you hit over 300 mph in under four seconds!

Tell us something that might surprise us about you.

Something that might surprise you about me is that I used to be a boxer, played football, and even did some runway and commercial modeling.

Which part of our company DNA speaks the most to you and why?

The trait that speaks to me most is "natural problem solver." As an operations leader, that’s at the core of what I do every day. I enjoy the puzzle of it whether it’s navigating a tight project timeline, streamlining a process, or helping our teams work through a roadblock. Problem-solving isn’t just a skill, it’s how I lead, how I add value, and honestly, it’s part of my DNA.
