What problems do you solve for clients in your role?

Workplace transitions are typically knotty problems - there are the obvious tangible problems of tenant improvements, space planning, technology requirements, move logistics, equipment acquisition, etc. Less obvious are post-move issues: responsibly decommissioning unneeded equipment, lease-surrender “return of premises” obligations, etc. Apex can be a one-stop shop for solving these issues.

What’s your favorite aspect of your role at Apex?

We solve problems and give customers peace of mind.

How do you keep a healthy work/life balance?

I try to disconnect in the evenings and weekends to be present for my family and friends.

If you could choose anyone, who would you pick as your mentor?

In recent years I lucked into two great mentors: Bart Black and Mary Landis. Bart has trained me to look through a technology lens the idea of “place”. Both technology and the built environment are inextricably linked in order to create a successful workplace. Mary has shown me what successful leadership looks like with customers, internal teams, and the marketplace.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

“When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.” Maya Angelou

What’s your favorite restaurant in Seattle, and what makes it stand out to you?

We like Mr. Dim Sum at Southcenter. We go back primarily for the pan-fried Shrimp and Chive dumplings. We dream about them.

If you could do anything and know you would not fail die, what would it be?

Learning to swim. 😅

Tell us something that might surprise us about you.

I am an inveterate mechanical watch hobbyist. It’s a disease. Don’t get started.

Which part of our company DNA speaks the most to you and why?

Embraces Change + Finisher vs Starter. There will always be turbulence – it’s how you and your organization recover that makes a valuable and trusted partner.
